Retrofit

We modernise existing drying systems in the leather industry throughout the world and replace old, steam-driven air dryers with modern gas or electric infrared dryers. In most cases, we can reuse the “steel frame” of the old drying tunnel and install our modern gas or electric infrared modules directly into the individual zones.

Sustainability in the leather drying process

Traditional drying systems using steam and hot air

Many of our customers operate their drying processes for leather finishing in the conventional way with steam from a boiler house. This is extremely inefficient, firstly because gas has to be burned to heat up a thermal oil. In the second stage, the oil heats the water, which is then pumped as steam through multiple pipes to its destination - e.g. the drying tunnel. A huge amount of energy is lost on the way. If these drying systems operate multiple dryers with steam in parallel, not enough hot air reaches all of them for them to work reliably in many cases.

Modern drying systems using gas (directly) or electricity

In our modern industrial dryers, there are no transfer or output losses, as almost 100% of the energy used is applied efficiently to the drying process - and it is used only when the material is in the dryers and only in the amount required to achieve the permissible residual moisture in the leather.
